VoidZero & Cloudflare: Open-Source Void Vite Platform
Following VoidZero joining Cloudflare, Christoph Nakazawa and Michael Dong have open-sourced Void, a full-stack Vite deployment platform, zero-config SDK, and CLI built natively on Cloudflare Workers for Platforms, D1, and R2.

Following the acquisition and integration of the VoidZero team into Cloudflare, engineers Christoph Nakazawa and Michael Dong officially open-sourced Void on October 15, 2026. Originally engineered at VoidZero as a managed cloud platform for Vite applications, the entire Void stack is now freely available under an open-source license on GitHub.
Three Composable Open-Source Pillars: Platform, SDK, and CLI
Void is architected to eliminate infrastructure boilerplate for both human engineers and autonomous coding agents through a single unified dependency (npm install void):
- Void Platform: A self-hostable multi-tenant cloud control plane built entirely on Cloudflare Workers for Platforms, R2 object storage, and Postgres, complete with custom domain routing and one-click version rollbacks.
- Void SDK: A zero-configuration Vite plugin and runtime library integrating Hono API routes, client-server RPC via Hono Client, authentication powered by Better Auth, and unified storage primitives.
- Void CLI: A streamlined command-line tool that handles authentication, environment synchronization, preview deployments, and production rollouts via a single void deploy command.
Zero-Config D1 Database Provisioning and AI Gateway Primitives
With the void/db and void/ai modules, developers can import database and model inference bindings directly inside application code. During local development, Void provisions a local SQLite instance; upon executing void deploy, the platform inspects the build output, automatically provisions a production Cloudflare D1 database, applies pending schema migrations, and binds the Worker runtime without requiring manual wrangler.jsonc configuration files.
Cloudflare and VoidZero confirmed that the zero-config ergonomics pioneered in the Void SDK and CLI are actively being merged upstream into the official Cloudflare Vite Plugin.
“Our goal with Void was to make full-stack Vite development seamless from the first line of code to global edge deployment, with zero configuration files and automatic infrastructure provisioning.”
