FLUX 3 Image Klein: 5.6B Open-Weight 4K Visual Model
Black Forest Labs has released FLUX 3 Image Klein, a 5.6B parameter open-weight visual generation and editing model featuring native 4K synthesis, 10-image reference conditioning, bounding-box control, and local execution on 8GB VRAM GPUs.

Black Forest Labs has officially released FLUX 3 Image Klein, a 5.6-billion-parameter open-weight model engineered for text-to-image synthesis, pixel-accurate image editing, and multi-reference generation supporting up to 10 simultaneous reference images. The compact architecture retains the flagship capabilities of the full FLUX 3 Image family, including native 4K output and bounding-box spatial conditioning.
Topping the Speed-Quality Pareto Frontier with 38% Fewer Parameters
Across blind human evaluations, FLUX 3 Image Klein ranks first in text-to-image generation, multi-reference synthesis, and image editing, outperforming significantly larger open-weight competitors including Qwen-Image 2.1 (7B) and Krea 2 (12.9B), as well as proprietary systems such as Ideogram V4.5 and FLUX.2 [pro].
Compared against the previous generation FLUX.2 [klein] 9B, the 5.6B generator achieves a +91 Elo improvement in text-to-image quality and a +70 Elo gain in image editing while reducing parameter count by 38%, benefiting from joint representation learning across spatial imagery, video physical dynamics, and audio event signals.
Consumer GPU Optimization: 8GB VRAM Local Execution
Shipped under the FLUX Kommunity License alongside NVIDIA-optimized quantization builds, the release provides both a full base checkpoint for LoRA fine-tuning and a 16-step distilled checkpoint across BF16 (11.2 GB), FP8 (5.6 GB), INT8, and NVFP4 precision formats.
- Executes locally on consumer NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPUs with as little as 8GB of VRAM via ComfyUI and Hugging Face Diffusers
- Synthesizes 1MP images in 0.55 seconds on NVIDIA GB300, roughly 4 seconds on RTX 5090, and under 9 seconds on RTX 4070
- Ships with day-one deployment integrations for TensorRT-LLM, SGLang Diffusion, vLLM-Omni, NeMo AutoModel, and Ostris AI Toolkit
- Supports explicit bounding-box coordinates to govern element placement and isolate pixel edits without disturbing surrounding regions
“Fewer parameters make FLUX 3 Image Klein practical to run on consumer laptops and affordable to adapt on private infrastructure for teams with strict data sovereignty requirements.”
